Project Title
Herne Bay House
This villa is located on a long, thin, site in Auckland’s Herne Bay. It is home to a young couple with children who loved the location, but wanted to renovate to allow more space for the growing family. The renovation included reworking the existing house (including adding an extra bedroom, more storage and updating the bathrooms) and the addition of a light-filled pavilion at the rear of the property with a new kitchen and living space and providing a good connection to the garden. The design makes use of green design principles with an emphasis on natural light and energy efficient lighting; double glazing; very high levels of insulation; and an efficient heating system.
