A+W NZ / NZBS Timber Construction Workshops

15 January 2020

Education in construction for architects is invaluable, and a new workshop opportunity has been developed for A+W NZ with the New Zealand Traditional BoatBuilding School.
The workshops will be held on two consecutive Sundays, and in 2020 are holding a Summer Workshop (16 & 23 February) and a Winter Workshop (19 & 26 July).

This is an amazing opportunity to learn a range of skills, from the use of machinery and equipment, to terminology and some secrets of timber boatbuilding craftsmanship.
Workshops are limited to 8 people, so sign up on the Eventbrite pages (links below).

When:   9.30am - 4.30pm
Summer Workshop: Sunday 16 Feb & Sunday 23 Feb 2020
Winter Workshop:   Sunday 19 July & Sunday 26 July 2020

Tutor:   John Welsford
Cost:    $250 plus materials ($125 deposit option, balance due start of workshop)

These two-day workshops are not restricted to A+W NZ members only - friends and colleagues are welcome.

The project is a group build of a single stylish deck chair that incorporates all the woodworking machinery and tools used in taking some rough sawn timber through to a finished product.
This will allow time for everyone to gain experience with the machinery and tools used in the process along with many tips and tricks from a seasoned wood worker.
At the end the deck chair, as  A+W.NZ chooses, could be auctioned to raise funds for A+W.NZ  or as a prize for participation in a survey, etc
What to bring:
Wear enclosed footwear
$10 for materials
Tea and Coffee provided
