From the President's address in the NZIA Bulletin 15 September 2017;

"Our approach to public engagement has changed. The development of the Festival of Architecture has seen Architecture Week change from a local event (which was very strong in Auckland for a number of years) to a national programme. The Festival was developed as an advocacy vehicle offering a range of activities promoting architecture and architects around the country. The idea of a such a framework allows for both national and local events, big and small. There has been activity in most branches. Last night, for example, I attended an exhibition in New Plymouth by Architecture + Women NZ supported by the Western Branch. Sally Ogle, Kathy Waghorn and I presented to 60 people on Patchwork Architecture, Future Islands and the general theme of ‘Architecture Matters’. Kathy and I also talked to a group of high school students, curious to know about what architects do and how to become one."

NZIA President Christiina van Bohemen.
