A positive, celebratory feeling was enjoyed by so many to mark the historically-significant publication of women working in architecture in Aotearoa New Zealand.
The event was opened by Kiri Reihana (Ngāpuhi, Ngāi Tūhoe, Whakatōhea), followed by addresses by A+W NZ Co-Founder and previous Co-Chair Megan Rule and current Co-Chair Anner Chong. Nicola Legat of Massey University Press spoke of working with Elizabeth Cox on this extraordinary publication, and Elizabeth gave a beautiful overall summary of the book - and describing her four years of hard work and collaborating with the thirty contributors.
Te Kāhui Whaihanga NZIA Gold-Medallist Julie Stout gave the launch presentation talk, where she discussed the long-overdue nature of this important publication.
A+W NZ could not be more proud to have organised and hosted this book launch - we have tried to support Elizabeth all the way and watched as she calmly and seamlessly weaved the many voices together. In her hands, and with the excellence of MUP, this book will be like a fixed rock in a river of history, always the reference to measure from. So important.
We thank all of the benevolent sponsors who have made the book possible - the practices who have contributed so generously are listed in the beautifully-designed book;
A special thanks goes to ex Co-Chairs Lindley Naismith and Megan Rule and the sponsorship team, who worked hard to make the book financially possible.
A huge thank you to the A+W NZ Auckland team who put in the hours to make the Auckland launch event the wonderful night that it was;
