Kathryn Roughan has practised architecture in several continents and within different cultures. Her architectural solutions are designed to respect the location and culture within which they sit, successfully address sustainability and explore the uses of material, textures, light and shade. A diverse range of projects of type and scale from residential to commercial as well as government projects have been realised.
Kathryn was born in New Zealand in 1972. She graduated from the University of Auckland New Zealand in 1997 with a Bachelor of Architecture with honours and then worked in Auckland and Sydney. In 2002 Kathryn ventured to Tanzania to work with a London Architectural firm based in the capital Dar es Salaam. From East to West Africa, in 2008 she moved with her family to Ghana. Kathryn has worked independently and realised multiple projects mainly in Africa. In 2011 the family moved to settle in Switzerland where she continues practising.
