I graduated from Auckland University in 1990. At this time New Zealand was in an economic recession. With the resulting downturn in the construction industry and no foreseeable work available for an architectural graduate, I travelled to the London to work. Upon my return to New Zealand in 1992 I worked outside of the industry for three years while undertaking residential architectural design work whenever the opportunity arose. In 1995, with the recovery of the New Zealand economy, I obtained a position in an architectural group within a multidisciplinary company, where I work still today. In my current role as a senior architect I am involved in a variety of project types including masterplanning, urban design, education and community building design and interior office fitouts. I enjoy working collaboratively with clients and the end users of buildings as well as the process of the design journey with the wider project team - from initial briefing, concept design and design documentation through to project completion. I am excited in 2013 to be part of the design profession within our community.
