The Grandmother Project

The Grandmother Project is a film installation of ethnographically gathered footage of Pasifika (Maori, Samoan, and Tongan) and Native (Kiowa American Indian) Indigenous elders.

This project maps, interrogates, and locates frameworks of Indigenous and Pacifika notions of spatial orientation. Specifically in relation to lived tradition, oration, genealogy, cosmology, and the notion of Va. Bringing to light voices and stories of experts/Grandmothers, in who's minds are enclosed the last syllables of generations past.
