I am a passionate, dedicated architect with over 20 years experience in New Zealand. I have extensive experience in leading and delivering
complex projects across NZ with the last 16+ years primarily in the health sector.
I have recently joined Jasmax in their health team as a Principal and senior architect after 13 years at Klein Architects working exclusively in the health sector.
I was involved in many of Klein's most significant projects including Harley Gray building and Tiaho Mai at Middlemore Hospital, Forte health fitout in Christchurch which is a earthquake rebuild project and was the first healthcare facility in NZ to achieve a Greenstar 4 rating. More recently the CDHB Hillmorton Specialist mental health service project.
I have always believed that architecture is about people and enhancing their experiences. Considered and beautiful design should lead to better outcomes for all. I have a 'best for project' approach to all my work and this helps guide my decision making. I am skilled at listening and working with clients to draw out their needs and reflect them in the design to create better outcomes for end users. This is best reflected in my recent mental health unit design projects including Tiaho Mai at Middlemore Hospital and Hillmorton SMHS project in Christchurch.
My design and leadership style is collaborative, believing that everyone has value to add and the design is enhanced by collective input however I am not afraid to make a decision when required.
I am dedicated to advancing young architects -I have spent lots of time mentoring and training graduates both in the field of health architecture and also the broader profession. In particular coaching through the registration process.

Showcase
Tiaho Mai Acute Mental Health unit
Tiaho Mai is a 76 bed acute mental health unit on the Middlemore Hospital campus. I was the project lead and senior health planner on the project. Tiaho Mai represents a stepchange in the design of these units in NZ. The design puts patient recovery and wellbeing at the centre and incorporates salutogenic and cultural design principles throughout.
