About ahha

ahha is a certified B Corp architecture and design practice with studios in Tāmaki Makaurau, Auckland and Wānaka. We are architects on a mission to radically transform the impact of our built environments and to help create a truly regenerative Aotearoa.

Our work spans cultural, residential, commercial, education and landscape sectors, and every project is guided by our ahha Impact Framework across six domains: carbon, ecology, circularity, health and wellbeing, equity and access, and community and culture. We measure what matters, ensuring our projects are making a real difference.

The Role

ahha is looking for a talented person who can lead the technical delivery of our projects and own the Revit environment, standards, and technology workflows that ensure consistently excellent delivery across both studios. This is a leadership-level position for someone who can challenge, shape, and set the technical direction of the practice alongside our directors.

You will move between two connected responsibilities. First, hands-on technical delivery: producing consent and construction documentation sets to a high standard, resolving design intent into buildable detail, leading consent lodgement, and supporting projects through construction. Second, building the infrastructure beneath that work: our Revit templates and component library, our documentation standards, our consultant coordination, and the continual integration of emerging tools into how the whole studio functions.

Technical Delivery Lead

Produce and lead consent and construction documentation sets to a high standard.

Technical input from early stages enabling well-resolved approaches to buildability leading into documentation stages.

Own technical decision-making on construction systems, junctions, weathertightness and buildability.

Lead consent lodgement and respond to council and contractor RFIs.

Support construction, including shop drawing review and site queries.

Set the benchmark for other team members documentation.

Revit Environment and Standards

Own ahha's Revit template, families, shared parameters, view templates and sheet standards.

Author and maintain a component library that carries ahha's design language and preferred construction systems.

Establish worksharing, model health and file management protocols across Auckland and Wānaka.

Write and maintain the documentation manual so a new hire produces ahha quality output within weeks.

AI and Technology Integration

Design and embed AI assisted workflows across documentation, specification, compliance checking, coordination and client communication.

Use Dynamo, pyRevit or equivalent to automate repetitive production tasks.

Evaluate and pilot emerging tools, and retire the ones that do not earn their place.

Bring embodied carbon and performance analysis into early design rather than late consultant review.

Deliver workflows the team uses fluently without needing to be specialists themselves.

Develop workflows to enable smooth transitions from early stage exploration work through to documentation.

Coordination and Knowledge

Own BIM execution plans, federated model coordination and consultant information exchange.

Resolve clashes before they reach site.

Capture detailing solutions, product performance and project lessons so knowledge lives in systems.

You Will Likely Have

5 to 10 years in NZ architectural practice, with a strong documentation and delivery record.

Advanced Revit capability including template authorship, family creation and worksharing setup.

Demonstrated experience integrating AI into real practice workflows, not just personal experimentation.

Confident command of NZ Building Code, consent processes and Council navigation.

Knowledge of LCA & Thermal modelling software and it’s integration into Revit for all stages of the process

Knowledge of Greenstar, Homestar or Passive House processes are a nice to have, but not essential.

Enough design literacy to protect intent while resolving detail.

Registered architect or on the pathway is an advantage, not essential.

Not a role for those primarily focused on leading concept design, but rather for a technical expert who takes real satisfaction in buildability, systems, and lifting the capability of those around them.

First Year Expectations

Deliver two or three documentation sets that become the internal benchmark.

Rebuild the Revit template environment, starting with the most costly gaps.

Embed two or three AI assisted workflows in live projects with measured time savings.

Begin systematic knowledge capture and cross studio training.
