Ruby Crooks
As a Graduate at Maguire and Harford Architects, I contribute to the design and delivery of sustainable and innovative projects in the education, commercial, and residential sectors.

I recently completed my Masters degree at Victoria University of Wellington, where I focused on preserving existing sites through deep-energy retrofits of classroom blocks in New Zealand. I have also obtained multiple certifications in green building and life cycle assessment, which demonstrate my commitment and proficiency in sustainability. I am skilled in detailed design, concept design, and construction observation, and I enjoy collaborating with clients, consultants, and contractors to achieve high-quality outcomes.
Looking For a Mentor
I would love to seek a mentor to aid me in my Architecture journey. Especially someone involved within the sustainability sector would be super exciting. Thanks!

Extending the Life - Masters Thesis

Extending the Life - My Masters Thesis research explored how the Ministry of Education can reform the design of existing dilapidated school buildings and reuse them in a way that cuts both carbon and costs.
My research explored energy modelling to examine how the form of the 1970's "Nelson Block" school across New Zealand could perform if provided with a Deep-energy Retrofit, and how this could provide a reform to the way that architecture is portrayed and examined across the country.
