Celebrating Julie Stout's Gold - Video Series
16 Feb 2022To celebrate Julie, and to acknowledge Te Kāhui Whaihanga NZIA in their selection, A+W NZ have created seven short videos to capture some of Julie’s infectious spirit, broad interests and influence, and serious commitment to architecture. The videos have been made to acknowledge the importance of Julie’s recognition and its effect on Aotearoa New Zealand’s architectural canon.
On Friday 14 January 2022, three members of A+W NZ (Lynda Simmons, Divya Purushotham and Madalena Refiti) visited Julie at her home (Narrowneck House) to talk with her about her experiences in architecture and life. We discussed how she interweaves her passion for good urban design with politics, her adventurous spirit, working with partner in architecture and life Gold Medal winner David Mitchell, and her relentless exploring of the dissolved edge of nature and architecture, at all scales. Each short video focusses on one of the themes that emerged from our discussions that Friday evening.
Thank you, Julie, for your time and excellent company.
And thank you for leading the way for so many more women to follow.
One video was released each week, beginning on 16 February 2022 with A+W NZ Video 1: GOLD! Julie Stout 2021 Introduction.
